The film well centres about the real-life 1962 world championship featherweight bout between Finnish boxer Olli Maki (Jarkko Lahti) and reigning titleholder Davey Moore,
but it is Olli’s romance with girlfriend Raija (Oona Airola) that is the real focus of his attention. The film warmly and charmingly charts his struggles to balance his boxing obligations with those of the heart.
